Monday, August 25th:
Registration & Welcome Reception
Most arrivals will take place on Monday. For those arriving on Sunday who may be interested in optional activities available Monday morning, please contact us.
Event registration will be open Monday afternoon starting at 2:00, followed by a Welcome Reception with cocktails and food stations in the evening.
**Registered Spouses/Guests are encouraged to attend and participate in all social and networking activities!
Tuesday, August 26th:
Morning - Keynote, Meeting, & Board Election
Meetings will begin at 8:00 AM on Tuesday with breakfast offered at 7:00 AM, followed by speakers, general business meeting, and Board election.
KEYNOTE
Michael Lombardi
Presentation:
"Culture is the Game"
Michael Lombardi, former General Manager in the NFL and three-time Super Bowl-winning executive, after thirty years working for the New England Patriots, San Francisco 49ers, the Oakland Raiders, and the Cleveland Browns. Lombardi is also a best-selling author, as his 2018 book, Gridiron Genius based on his experience working alongside NFL legends. Lombardi is the only person who has been to a Super Bowl with Bill Walsh, Al Davis, and Bill Belichick during his career. He is now the General Manager of the University of North Carolina football program.
Belichick once said of Lombardi, “Mike’s one of the smartest people I know,” “He’s one of the smartest people I’ve ever worked with and was a huge asset to me for the two years that he was here. He studies football, and he knows it very well. I would say on probably all teams.”
Lombardi’s body of knowledge is 35 years in the making. He has more than three decades of experience in professional football as a coach, executive, and media analyst. His coaching and front office career have included jobs with the San Francisco 49ers, Oakland Raiders, Cleveland Browns (where he was the general manager and director of player personnel) and New England Patriots. His television experience, CBS Sports, Showtime and the NFL Network. Also, he has written extensively for numerous print and digital media platforms, including NFL.com, Sports Illustrated and now VSIN.
Football GM, UNC Chapel Hill
Afternoon - Golf (or Spa or Tour Charleston)
The Herman Miron Good Guy Golf Tournament will take place on Tuesday afternoon on the Links Course. For non-golfers, Attendees could instead choose to participate in The Spa OR a Food Tour / Explore Charleston Excursion (one activity is included for each registered attendee). [Check out the Golf & Activities page for details on these activities.] You will select your preferred activity when registering for the Conference.
Evening - Dine-Arounds
Tuesday evening dinner will be pre-assigned groups going to a variety of local restaurants, paid on your own.
Guests Note: Spouses/Guests are welcome to participate in a 9:00AM breakfast set up just for them, to get to know each other. If participating in Spa as their included activity, an appointment for their selected treatment will be scheduled and confirmed for them. If playing golf, we will assign spouses together in foursomes (unless otherwise requested). They may also choose to go on the Charleston Excursion with or without their delegate participating in that activity.
Wednesday, August 27th:
Person-to-Person Conferences
Wednesday will feature a networking breakfast, followed by a full day of Person-to-Person Conferences (8am to 5pm). A Dance Card Request Form will be available to submit your appointment requests. Appointments will be scheduled for you, and your completed Dance Card will be emailed prior to the Conference.
Spouses/Guests are welcome to visit the SSWA Cabana at the Boardwalk Inn Pool for a complimentary cocktail and relaxation.
Closing Dinner / Awards will be on the Beach Boardwalk at Wild Dunes Resort.
Thursday, August 28th:
You are free to depart anytime on Thursday, however remember the discounted rate is available 3 days before and after our Conference dates (based on availability), should you wish to extend your stay and enjoy this fabulous getaway location!
